The University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" was founded in 1991 as the Second University of Naples, created specifically to give the region's growing student population an alternative to the overcrowded Federico II. Renamed in 2016 after the celebrated architect who designed the Royal Palace of Caserta - one of the university's own campuses - Vanvitelli today serves around 30,000 students across 16 departments spread between Caserta, Naples, and other Campania towns. It's especially known for Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, and Economics, and has built one of the more genuinely international English-taught offerings among Southern Italian universities, including a fully English-taught Medicine and Surgery degree and a Data Science master's built with industry-relevant tools like Python, R, and SQL. Double-degree partnerships with universities in France, Spain, and Turkey add further international reach.
